One in five homes in the United States has an HVAC system that is more than 20 years old

According to this study by the Residential Air Conditioning Consumer Research Summary report, 76% of homeowners said their HVAC system was more than 10 years old. Over half of the people surveyed said their HVAC units were from 10 to 19 years old.

According to Daffan Cooling and Heating, the average age of HVAC systems at the time of replacement should be around 12 years old.
