Haunted house? Or an easy fix?

What scary sounds around the house could mean for your customers!

You know that spine-tingling, chill-bumpy feeling. It’s late at night and your customers hear a spooky scrape, a creepy crash, or a beastly boom in their home. Is it a ghost? A ghoul or a goblin? Maybe it’s an alien, a reptilian, or Bigfoot? Or just maybe it’s a simple home repair issue. In that case, they can simply call a Pro to take care of it. If it is a ghost, they might want to call someone else. (You know who.)

Spooky sounds your customers might hear in their home

These seven creepy noises could give your customers a fright, but they’re pretty easy to explain away. It’s time to put them at ease and rule out any monsters. Here are some of the sounds your customers might complain about when they give you a call.

Creaky floors

She takes a step, and the floor creaks just a few feet behind her. What the heck! Is she being followed by an invisible man? This is the time to take a deep breath. It’s more than likely not an invisible man. Or even a ghost. That creaking sound she hears when she walks is most likely caused by the floorboards rubbing against each other. It could also be from nails that have come loose. A flooring specialist can help out by taking up a board and tightening a nail or two.

Whistling windows

He hears a little whistle just outside his window, and he’s concerned there’s a werewolf lurking in his yard! Well, for starters, werewolves probably don’t whistle. And we’d be willing to bet it’s just wind whipping through the seal. Maybe the windows weren’t properly installed. It could be a super easy fix that a handyman can handle.

Banging and clanging

This is a common one! If your customer hears a faint banging or clanging sound, it’s probably coming from under their kitchen or bathroom sinks. Big swings in temperature could be the culprit instead of a hideous masked invader wielding a machete or chainsaw. As the temperature and humidity drops, pipes can rattle. A plumber can put an end to that.

Drip, drip

It’s not blood dripping from whatever blood would be dripping from. Your customer’s imagination is running wild! It could be as simple as a leaky faucet or toilet. Slow drains can even cause a dripping, gurgling sound. And if they hear a whooshing sound coming from the toilet, the little valve thing on the overflow tube isn’t working properly and the toilet is refilling with water. They can call a plumber and rest easy!

Knock, knock

What about that knocking sound coming from the walls between the bedrooms or ceiling? We’d be willing to bet it’s not a zombie that has somehow made it into their home. Rats, mice, squirrels, and other pesky varmints can find their way into attics and even walls. It could even be bats! (But not Dracula bats. Just regular bats.) A pest control Pro can get rid of them and remove all fears of getting their brains eaten.

Flap, flap

Your customer is fairly convinced a hairy little troll is trolling them in the hallway. But all that flapping fuss might be ductwork that isn’t completely sealed. Or it could be a clogged air filter, which, of course, customers can replace without the need for a professional. If they’ve recently changed the air filter, they might want to call an HVAC tech and forgo the frightening flap.

The roar from the basement

Remember Kevin freaking out about the monster in the basement after his family left him home alone? Yeah. It turns out that was just the furnace. So, if they hear a roar down there, a local HVAC tech can quiet that furnace down.
